Unusual large format 1965 photograph of Malcolm X speaking with an unidentified man and A. Peter Bailey, acclaimed journalist, author, and lecturer who also served as one of the pallbearers at X's funeral later that year. A published interview with Bailey (JDJean-Jacques, The Hilltop, March 7, 2022) cites the photograph's year as 1965 but does not identify the other figure. We have not been able to fully identify the type of photograph printing. It is something akin to a halftone printing on a thin paper, and yet it has a sheen to it, and some silvering. Some wrinkling to the paper is evident, with small losses and tape remnant to the lower right edge, and one area of pencil in-painting. Framed and measuring 19.5 x 25.5 inches overall.
Bailey was a founding member of The Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU), organized in 1964 by Malcolm X and was editor of the OAAU newsletter, Blacklash.
