The Advocate of India, the Anglo-Indian newspaper of Bombay, had called him ‘Indian Paganini’ and he was one of the few exponents of Western classical music in India at the time and toured internationally, including the United Kingdom and the United States, in 1906. National poet Subramania Bharathiyar praised him as a matter of pride for India. Despite his early fame, little information survived regarding his later life or subsequent years. This is the only signed photograph of him we have ever encountered.
