Hofmann toured across Europe and culminated his concert tour in America between 1887 and 1888 with a\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e10-week, 52-concert of the United States, which was facilitated by Henry Abbey and brought the child prodigy to major cities like New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and Baltimore. While he attracted enormous attention as a child prodigy of extraordinary ability during this tour, he withdrew from the concert platform in 1888, returning as a somewhat more mature artist in\u003cbr\u003e1894 and, after frequent international touring, eventually settled in the US. Hofmann moved permanently to the US in 1926, after the outbreak of World War I.
