English silver chalice on circular base decorated at the top with a putto's head on which is mounted a figure of Mercury in the round; plain cup. Presumed 925/1000 silver, mark "EH" to the base but otherwise identical in all respects to the examples by silversmith Mappin & Webb Ltd with Sheffield 1919-20 hallmarks. Height 21.5, cup diameter 8.5 cm, weight 336 g. Some tarnishing and pitting, else fine.
