Baker, Josephine. (1906–1975). "The Fabulous Joséphine Baker" - Signed LP.

Uncommon signed LP from the legendary entertainer shown in a typically opulent cabaret costume on the cover, boldly signed and inscribed in blue ink "to my dear Peck with such a big big kiss from your Josephine / 1960  / And Children." RCA Victor Red Seal. Mono LM-2427. Verso cover with text by Janet Flanner. Splitting along the upper cover edge, scattered light stains and tape remnants/small losses to left front edge, name "Mr. Peck" written in red ink to verso; record in good condition. While we wish we could say this was inscribed to Gregory Peck, we have not been able to positively identify the recipient. However the warm inscription does suggests a close associate.

Baker was most noted as a singer, while in her early career she was a celebrated dancer. She was given the nicknames the "Black Venus" or the "Black Pearl", as well as the "Créole Goddess" in anglophone nations, while in France she has always been known in the old theatrical tradition as "La Baker."
