[Verdi, Giuseppe. (1813–1901)] Pellegrini, Rosa. . "27 piccole storie e una messa per Giuseppe Verdi" - Limited Edition Artist Book. Parma: Galleria Borgobello. 1983. First.

Oversized limited issue portfolio of 30 full-color prints, each numbered in pencil 158/300 by the Italian artist Rosa Pellegrini. Title; Frontispiece; presentation; 28 most unusual scenes from operas and the Requiem, all populated by rather alarmingly depicted children as the characters. Light wear to edges, overall fine.

Rare. We have been unable to find any information on the artist and locate no copies of this rather elaborately produced volume in any library nor having appeared ever at auction.

The preliminary full page presentation text is by Gian Marco Chiavari, a doctor and child psychiatrist by profession but an antiques dealer, gallery owner and art historian by vocation. In particular, Chiavari was Erté's attorney in Italy and a scholar of the artist: with him Erté established the most important relationship that the famous Russian-French painter had in Italy. "For the artist, Chiavari had not only the task of guaranteeing the authenticity of the works, but of promoting their image and work as a whole, so much so that several exhibitions and volumes edited by the latter followed: from 'Bronzi di Erté: dal disegno alla scultura' in 1983 to the autobiography 'Cose che ricordo' published in 1987" (from ArsValue.com). As a poet, between 1991 and 1996 he joined the international poetry group "Anche per questo" founded by Francesco Carrozzo several times. In Parma he is also remembered for managing the Galleria Borgobello together with Giuseppe Iervolino, with whom he is responsible for the present limited edition artist's book/portfolio.
