Very fine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eDedicated to his friend Joseph Joachim (1831–1907), Brahms' only Violin Concerto was premiered in Leipzig on January 1, 1879, with the composer as conductor and the dedicatee as soloist.  Joachim, who considered the piece one of the four great German violin concerti, insisted on programming it alongside the Beethoven Violin Concerto, leading Brahms to complain that the program was \"a lot of D major - and not much else.\"  After some modifications, the work was published by Fritz Simrock in the same year.
