[Auric, Georges. (1899-1983)] Chalupt, Rene. (1885-1957). Interesting Autograph Letter to Georges Auric. An interesting letter from the influential French critic, musicologist and poet, regarding his poems, performances, Diaghilev, Ravel, De Falla, Ricardo Vines etc. Not addressed, but evidently addressed to composer, George Auric of Les Six. Ca. 1920. 4 pp, usual folds, some light toning, else fine.
In part: "J'ai vu Milhaud tout a l'heure encore; il m'avait parle de votre trio aussi je ne suis pas tombe de saisissement en vous lisant." He mentions that he will perform Les Noctures by De Falla at Saint-Sebastien, where Diaghilev "va en tirer quelche choreographie." He hasn't seen Ravel or Roland Manuel; discusses his poetry etc.
Chalupt was a major figure in the circle of Les Six and in the community of French composers and artists in the first half of the 20th century. His poems were set by Satie, Milhaud and others and he edited or authored important books on composers from his circle.
