An interesting signed autograph manuscript page from the influential American composer often associated with "minimalist" music, but who has described himself instead as a composer of "music with repetitive structures." Glass has penned a lengthy pre-world-premiere full-page AMusQS of the solo cello part of the 1st Movement ("Prologue") of his "Cello Concerto #1," adding the date of "December 2000."  On Aztec C-24 music manuscript paper, 11 x 14 inches. 28 x 25 cm. In very fine condition. 

One of the first major concerti written in the 21st Century as well as the first major work written by a major Western composer to have its premiere in China, the Concerto was commissioned by William and Rebecca Krueger, friends of both the cellist Julian Lloyd Webber and the conductor Yu Long in celebration of Lloyd Webber's 50th birthday and the first anniversary of Maestro Yu's China Philharmonic Orchestra.   The piece was premiered at the Beijing Music Festival on October 21, 2001.
