Kapell, William. (1922-1953). Signed Concert Program Page, 1946. Single sheet program page from the brilliant young American pianist's 1946 performance at the Winnipeg Auditorium in Canada, March 11, 1946. Kapell has signed boldly in pencil with his full name beside a portrait photograph. Small abrasion lower right corner, else fine. Scarce. 10 x 6.25 (25.5 x 16 cm).

The great pianist's flourishing career was cut tragically short by a plane crash on the way back from Australia. Copland wrote of him: “I cannot conceive of his ever having given a dull performance – an erratic one, perhaps, a misguided or stylistically incongruous one maybe, but invariably one that was electric and alive.”
