Signature, "Yours truly, I J Paderewski," by the great Polish composer, pianist and politician, in ink to small card. Oblong format with cut corners, 3 x 4 inches (14.3 x 9 cm), remnants of mounting to verso. Together with an original postcard depicting Paderewski, addressed in an unknown hand, and postmarked Dublin, June (or July) 19, [19]06. In very good condition.
Paderewski was one of the most successful touring pianists between ca. 1887 and the First World War and then temporarily turned politician, becoming the first prime minister of newly independent Poland for a few months in 1919. In 1913 he purchased a large property in California for a few years, Rancho San Ignacio, near Paso Robles, where he grew vines and fruit trees for about 25 years. Paso Robles is now the site of a Paderewski festival.
