The copy of the prolific American director, producer and screenwriter Sidney Lumet, sold together with a TLS on Bernard Delfont-Arthur Lewis letterhead presenting the volume to him, dated 18th August, 1967 from the secretary to Mr. Arthur Lewis (1916 - 2006), noted theatrical, film and TV producer.
Loot is a two-act play by the English playwright Joe Orton, a dark farce that satirises the Roman Catholic Church, social attitudes towards death, and the integrity of the police force. It won the queer Leicester-born playwright the Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Play of 1966. The present paperback edition was published simultaneously with the hardback.
