Signed promotional still of the dashing Italian actor from the 1962 French film, distributed in the U.S. by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.  Inscribed to Paul McMahon.  Oblong format, 8 x 10 inches (20.2 x 25.5 cm).  In fine condition.

A Very Private Affair (La vie privée in the original French) was a star vehicle for Brigitte Bardot, whose character, named Jill, was her alter ego to a considerable extent.  Mastroianni functioned as her male co-star.  Reviews were more favorable in Europe than in the U.S.

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
