Signed bust photograph of the legendary Russian ballet dancer in an unidentified role, wearing a glittering headband with a central jewel and a glittering netted top just visible on his shoulder. Inscribed to Paul McMahon, with signature in Cyrillic.  Handstamp to verso refers to a tour of the Royal Ballet, London, under Ninette de Valois, managed by Sol Hurok.  10 x 8.25 inches (25.5 x 20.8 cm).  Slight wear to edges, else fine. 

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
