The "Menuhin Festival Orchestra" is probably is the orchestra of the Festival in Gstaad, Switzerland, which Menuhin founded in the late 1950s. The present program does not include biographies of either Menuhin or his orchestra. The concert included Frank Martin's Polyptique, six "pictures" from the life of Jesus, written and dedicated to Menuhin two years earlier. Martin's notes on his composition are printed in the program (pp. 7–9).
