Marguerite Long is often hailed the greatest pianist of her country and time.  She was close to Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel and published memoirs of her friendships with each of these.  She premiered several important works, most notably Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major (1932).
