Signed leaf (printed dedication," To Patricia and George Cukor"; otherwise blank) from the book With a Feather on My Nose by Billie Burke, ghostwritten by Cameron Shipp (New York: Appleton-Century-Crofts, 1949). Single sheet, lamentably cut from the book, inscribed "to Paul / best wishes / Billie Burke." 7.75 x 5 inches (19.5 x 12.8 cm). Slightly browned; else in fine condition.

The American actress achieved fame both on stage and screen, is best known to modern audiences as Glinda the Good Witch of the North in the MGM film musical The Wizard of Oz (1939). She was married to the legendary producer Florenz Ziegfeld. With a Feather on My Nose is the first of her two autobiographies (both with Shripp).

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
