Francis Rea MacMillen began study at the Chicago College of Music at age 7 and studied in in Berlin and Brussels. In 1902, he toured Europe, and in 1903 played in London and toured England. His American debut was in December 7th, 1906 at Carnegie Hall with the New York Symphony Orchestra, followed by a 98 concert tour of the Eastern and mid-west USA.
