The title translates as \"belated harvest of scattered seed,\" an allusion to the volume assembling poetry from many years; in some cases, a date is given. Schoenberg painted a portrait of her in the same year in which he composed \u003ci style=\"\"\u003eErwartung\u003c\/i\u003e. Pappenheim also translated libretti from other languages into German, and she made herself a name as a dermatologist and (communist) activist. She lived in exile from 1934—first in France, then in Mexico—but returned to Austria in 1947.
