An important early treatise on Picasso and Cubism with Ekster`s striking cover design, one of the first, if not the first, Russian works on Picasso. Ivan Aksenov (1883-1935) was associated with the Constructivists and worked in the theatre of Vsevolod Meyerhold, also serving as the dean of its directors` school. Critic, poet, and translator, he was an outstanding representative of the genre crossing and internationalist spirit of Russian avant-garde art.  Alexandra Exter (1882–1949) was an Ukrainian artist of Belarusian parentage, she studied in Paris from 1908-14 where she met the leading figures in the Parisian art world including Picasso, Braque, Delaunay, Léger and Apollinaire.
