Swanson, Gloria. (1899–1983). Two Signed Photographs. Two signed photographs of the legendary film star, an American actress and producer who first achieved fame acting in dozens of silent films in the 1920s and was nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Actress, most famously for her 1950 return in Billy Wilder's Sunset Boulevard, which also earned her a Golden Globe Award.

1. From her early years, possibly in character. Halftone on cardstock, "A Message from Gloria Swanson" printed to verso. 4.75 x 3.75 inches (12 x 9.3 cm). Top right and bottom left corners slightly bumped.

2. From her later years (about 1970?), exiting a limousine, an original candid. Oblong format, 3.5 x 5 inches (8.8 x 12.8 cm). In fine condition.

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
