Sayão, Bidu (1902-1999) and Bampton, Rose. (1907-2007). Photograph Signed by Both. Wonderful signed full-length photograph with wide margins, signed by both singers in front of a poster for Sayão's American debut performance (April 16, 1936—an all-Debussy concert) under Arturo Toscanini, where Bampton was also featured. 10 x 8 inches (25.5 x 20.2 cm) including margins. In excellent condition. Interestingly, Bampton, who is usually classified as a soprano, is credited as "contralto" on the poster; she was renowned for her wide range. Arnold Schoenberg was one of her admirers; she sang the Wood Dove in the American premiere of his Gurre-Lieder (1932).
