Sammelband of music scores for voice(s) and piano from the early 19th century, including early editions of songs by Mozart and Beethoven. Bound together in an oblong folio volume. 12.75 x 9.75 inches (32.5 x 25 cm). Manuscript table of contents with Dutch header, "Inhoud," but German titling to front free endpaper. Inscription in English, obviously later, to front paste down: "From Grandmother Gullen [?] to her Grandchildren Ena & Willie." Marbled boards, half cloth. Label to upper board partly lost; remaining piece inscribed in Dutch, "Mejnfrouw / Carolina. Regina Eli/sabeth Withuijs.—" Some foxing and bleeding; otherwise in fine condition. Contents:

3. [Weber, Carl Maria von]. Arietta ["Kommt ein schlanker Bursch gegangen"] a[us] d[er] Oper der Freischutze [sic]. Title lacking, [PN] 1719. 4 pp. Pagination begins at 47; area marked as "No. 7." Overpaste in French of F. L Donij & Comp., La Haye [=The Hague] to foot of first page of music. As shown by the plate number, this is an offprint from the first edition of the piano-vocal score of the opera, published by Schott in Mainz in 1821.

4. Keller, Carl (1784-1855). Wiegenlied ("Schlaf bald mein Kind"). For two voices (mother and father), guitar and piano. Lithographed; PN (1900). 5 pp. Was (?) first published in 1819 as op. 5, no. 2, with guitar accompaniment only.

An attractive example of a Sammelband of songs compiled in the Netherlands, probably Amsterdam. The volume in its existing form most likely dates from about 1840, although some of its contents are certainly older.
