Křička was an influential figure in Czech music life, particularly as a teacher. After completing his studies in Prague in 1905, he taught in Ekaterinoslav, Russian Empire (now Dnipro, Ukraine) for a year and befriended Alexander Glazunov and Sergey Taneyev before returning to his native country. Within his output as a composer, music for children, including children's operas, occupies a special place.
