Signed and inscribed in cyrillic, representing the figure of a man holding a hammer in one hand and, in the other, a sword which he is making into a plough share, symbolizing man's desire to put an end to war and convert the means of destruction into creative tools for the benefit of all mankind. A large bronze of this subject by Vuchetich is preserved at the United Nations, New York. Scattered staining and marks to metal, else very good. \u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\u003cdiv\u003eFamous for his heroic sculptures, Vuchetich was awarded the Lenin Prize in 1970, was a five-time winner of the Stalin Prize (1946-1950) and received the honorary title of the USSR People's Artist.  His work, Let Us Beat Swords into Plough shares, received the highest award - the Grand Prix diploma at the Brussels World Exhibition of 1958.
