As a replacement, Heifetz arranged the \u003cem style=\"\"\u003eThree Preludes in 1942\u003c\/em\u003e, and, in giving them a life in his repertoire, also added his own touches to them, such as new countermelodies. The second prelude is “a sort of blues lullaby” according to Gershwin.
