She won her first Norwegian national championship at age 10. At the 1924 Winter Olympics she was the youngest competitor in the figure skating field. Henie went on to win three consecutive Olympic gold medals in women’s singles (1928, 1932, 1936), ten World Figure Skating Championships (1927–1936), and six European Championships (1931–1936).
