[Erotic Drawings] Fendi, Peter. (1796 - 1842). Collection of Biedermeir Erotic Illustrations.
Collection of sixteen Biedermeier graphic erotic depictions, many of them humorous in nature, including six images depicting heterosexual couples engaging in relatively straightforward intercourse, and a series of seven showing humorous and outright acrobatic feats of copulation, many involving musical instruments.  Lithographs mounted to paper backing as issued, all trimmed to a uniform unusual shape with scalloped corners, some staining around the edges but otherwise fine.  Approx. 6 x 8 inches (15 x 20 cm.).

The extraordinary erotic watercolors, originally totaling 40 pieces, of the Austrian court painter Peter Fendi were posthumously as colored facsimile lithographs in Leipzig in 1910 in an edition of 600.  The present examples are from this publication. Hayn-Gotendorf IX, 162; Stern-Szana 247: "Äußerst rare Original-Ausgabe".
