Ferrer, José. (1912–1992) [Clooney, Rosemary. (1928–2002)]. Signed Candid Photograph with Rosemary Clooney.

Candid photograph of the Puerto Rican actor and director with his third (and fourth!) wife, the singer Rosemary Clooney, signed neatly by Ferrer to the lower left. Very fine. 5 x 3.5 inches; 12.7 x 8.9 cm.

Ferrer and Clooney first married in July of 1953, divorcing eight years later. The couple, who ultimately had five children together, remarried in 1964, though this second marriage fell apart when Clooney discovered that Ferrer was having an affair with the woman who would become his final wife, Stella Magee.

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
