Promotional flyer for a touring production of Jerry Herman and Michael Stewart's musical Hello, Dolly! at the Shubert Theatre in Boston, starring Ginger Rogers in the title role. Concurrent with its ongoing success on the Broadway stage, Hello, Dolly! had a robust touring life; this flyer dates to a run of performances in February and March of 1968. Small vertical tear to lower edge, else in very fine condition. 6 x 9 inches (15.2 x 22.9 cm.).
Ginger Rogers first stepped into the role of Dolly Gallagher Levi on August 9, 1965, the first replacement for original star Carol Channing. She played the role on Broadway for a year and a half before joining the touring production. At the time of the performances advertised by the present flyer, Pearl Bailey was leading an all-black cast of actors in the Broadway production.
