A bold AMQS of three measures from the opera has been affixed to the page facing opposite page 1. Light scattered foxing, otherwise excellent.

The opera was first performed in Monte Carlo on February 18, 1902 with enormous success. The cast included Adolphe Maréchal (Jean le Jongleur), Maurice Renaud (Boniface), Soulacroix (le Prieur), Berquier, Juste Nivette, Grimaud, Cuperninck (Monks), Marguerite de Buck and Mary Girard (Angels). A contemporary review by Fernand Platy, celebrated "not only a great success for the direction of our theater, but a fine victory for the eminent composer and for French music."
