Signed Daguerre of Chicago doubleweight photograph of the violinist, who has penned an unidentified autograph musical quotation in the upper left corner and inscribed "To Dorothy E. Wyman / from a sincere friend / Hans Muenzer" to the lower right, all in striking purple ink.  Light silvering, rippling to lower margin, else in fine condition.  10 x 8 inches (25.4 x 20.3 cm.).

Hans Muenzer served as concertmaster of the Chicago Theater Orchestra and the WGN Symphonietta, and was head of the string department at the University of Iowa.  His wife, Esther Payne, was a concert pianist and teacher, and their children all grew up to be active in the arts.  Their daughter Louise Bruyn was a modern dancer, their son Albert was concertmaster of the Houston Grand Opera, and their other son, Edgar, was a member of the violin section with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for almost half a century.
