Original gelatin silver print photograph of the conductor at the piano, boldly inscribed in red ink to the blank area below the image, "To Mr. Edward E. Thalmann / with best wishes and / ever cordially / Arturo Toscannini / March 8 1944."  Set in an unusual wood and silver velvet frame, unexamined out of frame, appears to be in very fine condition apart from the easel-back support on frame verso which needs repair.  8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm.) framed to 10.25 x 13 inches overall.
