Emerich Kasnter (1847-1916) studied with Liszt before going on to become a prominent music critic and musicologist, focusing primarily on Wagner. With Julius Kapp, he edited the first two volumes of "Richard Wagners gesammelte Briefe" (Leipzig, 1914).
