Original poster from the 1986 Kerouac Celebration in Lowell, Massachusetts, signed by both Allen Ginsberg and fellow Beat poet Gregory Corso, and with two large drawings by Corso sketched on the recto and verso of the poster. The poster advertises an event at Memorial Auditorium on March 17, 1986, featuring Ginsberg and other Lowell poets. Corso has added a drawing of an angel on the recto and another face on the verso, both signed. Ginsberg has signed on the recto below his photograph. Originally obtained by Corso's driver to the event. Foxing throughout, some light edge creases and one small edge tear to the upper margin; overall very good. 16 x 22 inches.
Jack Kerouac, born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts, was the Pioneer of the Beat movement, and died at the young age of 47, due to complications from alcohol abuse. After his death, his hometown of Lowell held a yearly celebration of Kerouac’s life. Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso and other Beat poets and authors attended these yearly celebrations.
