[Beethoven, Ludwig van. (1770–1827) & Joachim, Joseph. (1831–1907)]. 1894 Concert Program. Single-sheet concert program from an 1894 all-Beethoven concert by the Königlichen Orchester of Hannover with violinist Joseph Joachim. Joachim's name has been struck through in pen and replaced with "Riller," showing that Joachim was replaced by violinist Professor Otto Riller (1861–1936) of the Riller Quartet. Trimmed and laid down to an album leaf, with a further program from an 1893 concert in Brighton, England laid down on the verso. Toning, folding creases; overall very good. 7.75 x 10.5 inches (20 x 27 cm).
The program, presented for the benefit of the orchestra's fund for widows and orphans, included Beethoven's Coriolan Overture, Symphony no. 7, song cycle "An die entfernte Geliebte," and violin Romanze and Concerto in D major. Joachim was particularly known for reviving the Violin Concerto, which had languished in obscurity during the first half of the 19th century.
