Scriabin's Rêverie, op. 24, a short work for orchestra, was originally named Prélude and was written as a present for his publisher and patron, M. P. Belyayev. It was Belyayev who renamed the piece for publication. Rimsky-Korsakov considered the work "delightful" and premiered it in Saint Petersburg on December 5, 1898.
