Composed and published in 1914 by \u003c\/span\u003eW.C. Handy\u003cspan style=\"\"\u003e, the song was not the first to incorporate the blues, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"\"\u003ebut it was Handy’s greatest success, recorded thousands of times by musicians of nearly every genre. \u003c\/span\u003eEarl Hines\u003cspan style=\"\"\u003e’ 1940 rendition “Boogie Woogie on St. Louis Blues” was a hit record f\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"\"\u003eor his\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003ebig band.
