He worked with Verdi several times, completing the libretto to \u003ci style=\"\"\u003eDon Carlos \u003c\/i\u003eafter the death of Joseph Méry, and also playing a key role in the genesis of \u003ci style=\"\"\u003eAida \u003c\/i\u003ein 1869-70. In 1876, a financial dispute arose with Verdi, and Du Locle moved to Capri.\u003c\/div\u003e\u003cdiv style=\"\"\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\u003cdiv style=\"\"\u003eThe Requiem was premiered at Milan's San Marco on May 22, 1874, and was followed by three performances at La Scala with the same soloists (Teresa Stoltz, Maria Waldmann, Giuseppe Capponi, and Ormondo Maini).
