Signed book from the influential modern dancer and choreographer, founder with his wife Ruth St. Denis of the Denishawn dance company and of the Jacob's Pillow dance festival. He has signed and inscribed on the front free endpaper to Paul McMahon: "To Paul, with love from Shawn." The volume contains lectures delivered by Shawn at the George Peabody College for Teachers in 1938, first published in 1940, published with illustrations in 1950, and republished in 1963. 148 pp. Softcover, with box; some damage to the box, light wear to the wrappers; overall in very good condition, with a crisp inscription. 8.25 x 11 inches (21 x 28 cm).
