Ferras, Christian. (1933–1982). 1950 Promotional Brochure. Uncommon promotional brochure on the marvelous French violinist, published in 1950 and containing quotations from the press on the then seventeen-year-old's performances of Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky and others. On the cover, Ferras is shown photographed by Pierre Auradon, and on the final page, in concert with André Cluytens. One large horizontal crease and some wear to the edges; overall in very good condition. 6 pp. 5.25 x 8.25 inches (13.3 x 21.1 cm) folded.

Ferras began his career as a young prodigy in the mid 1940's, winning several international competitions, and premiered works by Honegger, Pascal and Semenoff. His collaboration with Pierre Barbizet, which began in 1948 and continued until his death, became one of the most famous violin-piano partnerships of the twentieth century. He left many superb recordings, and it was a great loss to the music world when he committed suicide in 1982 after a long struggle with depression.
