Monteux, Pierre. (1875–1964). Autograph Letter.

An intimate letter, signed "Pierre," dated April 30, 1946 to the conductor's sister-in-law, pianist and composer, Hilda Davis. 1 page. The conductor thanks her for a gift and promises that "we will put it on ice and we will drink it with you and Meyer when you come to Maine." Monteux was appointed conductor of Diaghilev's Ballets Russes in 1911 and thereby conducted the premieres of Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring), and Chant du Rossignol (The Nightingale), as well as Petrushka, Daphis et Chloe and Jeux. Between 1936 - 1952 , he was conductor of the San Francisco Symphony.
