From the famous German Soprano who was a member of the Metropolitan Opera from 1899 until the US entered WWI. After that, she became embroiled in political turmoil because of her German husband, Captain Hans Tauscher, who supplied arms and munitions to the German Army and was arrested, but later acquitted, in a plot to blow up Canada's Welland Canal.
