Original drawing titled "Richard Wagner. Venise 1880," signed lower right "Ferdinand Bac / Palazzo Vendramin." In blue pencil, on paper, 30 x 40 cm. The artist, celebrated French cartoonist Ferdinand Bac, has signed and inscribed the upper right hand corner in black ink: "Voici un croquis fait d'après nature à Venise, retracé fidèlement pour Mme la générale Buat par son respectueux ami Ferdinand Bac. 16 Juillet 1929," noting that the present drawing is a faithful reproduction in his own hand of the original portrait of Wagner in Venice which he had accomplished in person some 49 years prior. In fine condition, laid down to another paper for support and reinforcement of small edge tears.
