A finely etched portrait of the dancer in the final act of Giselle. On Arches paper, signed and numbered 12/100 by the artist in pencil and in fine condition. 29.5 x 39.5 cm.

In 1981, Nureyev performed the role with the Joffrey for a "Dance in America" special for PBS television entitled "In Tribute to Nijinsky."

"Dutch, 20th century, female. Active in Switzerland. Born 1905; died 1997. Painter, pastellist, draughtsman, engraver, sculptor. Figures, portraits, seascapes, flowers. Ilse Voigt attended Emil Orlik's classes at the art school in Berlin and went on to live and work in Lausanne. She contributed to group exhibitions, especially from 1964 at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris, of which she was a member. Her works were shown regularly in various galleries in Paris and Switzerland. A painter of flowers, portraits and views of Venice, dance was an immense source of inspiration to her. She painted graceful ballerinas and various famous dancers, notably Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov, in numerous plates in drypoint, pen drawings and pastel drawings.
