An unusual original photograph of the great French conductor, shown clowning around with Antoinette Frederksen, wife of the composer and cellist Sigurd Frederiksen (1881 - 1965), principal cellist of the Carl Rosa Opera Company and later of the Cincinnati Symphony, Detroit Symphony and LA Philharmonic. Monteux has signed and inscribed the photograph "To Antoinette - in remembrance of a foolish intermission during a very serious rehearsal!! / with much sympathy / Pierre Monteux / Hollywood Bowl / July 1927."
