Landowska, Wanda. (1879–1959). Signed Photograph with Autograph Musical Quotation. An especially interesting signed photograph with AMQS from the Polish-French harpsichordist whose performances, teaching, recordings, and writings played a large role in reviving the popularity of the harpsichord in the early 20th century. An 8 x 10 inch portrait at the keyboards, inscribed in the lower blank margin "To Maurice Solway, in rememberance of our wonderful music hours. Wanda Landowska. 1943." Above the inscription a 6.5 x 1 inch sheet has been affixed, on which Landowska has penned five measures of music which she identifies as "Tambourin de Rameau." A few small stains to the affixed page and in the margins of the photograph, mounted to a rigid backing, otherwise in fine condition.
