Signed Letter to David Blum

Very rare signed letter from the inventor of the international Suzuki method of music educationwho developed a philosophy for educating people of all ages and abilities. TLS. 1 page, dated January 30, 1991. Addressed to David Blum, the symphonic conductor and writer on classical music, for whom Suzuki wrote the Foreword to his book "Casals and the Art of Interpretation." Suzuki here thanks Blum for "writing the nice article entitled, 'Ageless Spirit' which we enjoyed in several different journals" and asks him 'to accept the enclosed Shikishi with my warmest regards." In fine condition, this one of only a handful of autograph Suzuki items we have seen on the market. Read More...

Autograph Letter sending New Year's Wishes

An interesting letter from the daughter of Franz Liszt who was later the wife of Richard Wagner and, after his death, the director of the Bayreuth Festival for 31 years. Autograph letter in French, addressed "Chere Monsieur" and signed “C. Wagner,” 2 pp (recto/verso) 11 x 15 cm, Bayretuh, December 31, 1899. In fine condition, apart from a small tear lower right affecting one letter in the date. In part: "My children and I are very grateful to your good wishes and reciprocate with all our heart all the best for the year about to begin." Tipped to another page along the edge, torn lower right just shy of the signature.

A remarkable and beautiful collection of twenty-eight wax seals, a few 18th century or earlier, the majority from the 19th century and a few slightly later, with handles of agate, crystal, mother of pearl, wood, bronze, and other materials, as well as a bone scarab pendant (with seal). H. 2-10 cm. Wear due to age and use. Two glass seals with minor chips, overall in very fine condition. Sold together with a number of wax fragments impressed with the relevant seals from the collection.
