Framed graphite/crayon on paper depiction of female heads in a garden flanked by two tea cups by Minnie Evans titled "Untitled, three urns of fire" 1943. Initialed "ME" lower right and bears Luise Ross Gallery, NYC label verso. 5.25" x 7.75", 12" x 14.5" overall. Wear with scattered smudges.



The important African American folk artist is known for her colorful drawings primarily executed in crayon. Born in North Carolina, she had a retrospective at the Whitney Museum in 1975 and her work may be viewed at such museums as the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian Institution, the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, the American Folk Art Museum and others.
