Signed Photograph with New Year's Toast - "Prosit 1898!"

A vintage postcard with an inset photograph, signed by the Bohemian-born Viennese composer famous for his dances and marches. Inscribed with a toast, on 12/29/1897 "Prosit 1898!" Approx 14 x 9 cm.

Bandmaster to the 84th Infantry Regiment in Vienna, he was regarded as one of the leading military composers of his time and toured frequently. Probably the climax of his career was the series of concerts he gave with the Wiener Farben Orchestra at the World Exhibition in St. Louis, Missouri in 1904. (9917)
